After almost 18 months since Medwyn's previous release, we are at last delighted to release this wonderful album.
The beginning of a new vibrant emotional Celtic series. Melodic, graceful and moving.
Celtic instruments flow and interweave with orchestral strings, flutes, Guitar and piano in what is essentially an emotional portrait of a beautiful woman, but no ordinary woman. A woman blessed with ancient wisdom and magical power, but coming to terms with that she is the last of her bloodline and kind.
As the magic in the earth fades she knows the ancient ways are to be preserved some how. With an immortal Owl and guardian a sacred journey begins and a prophecy is fulfilled.
Part Two - coming 2007 - The RUNE CASTER
Each album is self contained and complete. One does not need the entire set to enjoy or understand each individual title. |

A magical masterpiece. Could not keep up with the demand
for it whenever we carried it in our new age shop. The music evokes the
emotions so powerfully, especially the beautiful track "House of Elders" -
always gives shivers down the spine when it reaches those violins! Very
moving. Well done Medwyn, a wonderful style that has been truly
appreciated Down Under.

The more you listen, the more you get drawn in.
The more you get drawn in, the more you have to listen.
Fantastic themes running through the whole album.
The Crystal Shard is a beautiful trip through an expanding
space-like-scape, simple but very effective piano keeping you stable until
a violin unmasks the new theme.
A similar piano brings it back in The Bloodline.
House Of Elders is a true classic in Classical style. Could have been
written centuries ago its THAT good.
Casting Spells brings back The Clan feel, like an old friend coming back
home ending a superb CD.

What a marvellous new addition Medwyn! I have played The Sourcerer's Daughter' over and over again since obtaining the CD last month. The gently flowing Celtic melodies float you away from the stresses of the day into a distant fantasy world. I love the Crystal Shard; and Karen Kay's beautiful voice on the title track add to the atmosphere of magic and enchantment.
I await the follow-up with great anticipation!

It's great to hear Medwyn on top form and obviously inspired by the
subject. Celtic in feel but a lot calmer and romantic than the Clan series.
Similar (if anything) to Guinevere from the Arthurian series, always a
favourite album of mine. It's good to hear Medwyn collaborating so
succesfully with Stephen Page, and the vocal track featuring Karen Kay is
a revelation to someone like me who always claimed to like his "new age
music" without vocals ! All in all a great return to form and I can't wait
for part two....

You have totally superceded all expectation with this album. Its Evocative, thought provoking, emotional. I am so looking forward to the whole series.
The whole album emotes a sense of a passage of time, a sadness for the Sorcerer's daughter but with the mysterious and magical sometimes haunting melodies ... just makes this album worth listening to more and more.
Every time you listen you hear something different ... the depth cannot be taken in all at once ... the layering and shadowing of the music is just perfect.
The music, the writing, the artwork, everything just fits together. Karen's voice and Stephen's piano ... there is a gelling of Medwyn with his other artists which is stunning.
All in all a perfect album and would also be a wonderful gift to bestow on any friend or family member.

Well, echoing Stephen's sentiments and adding a few of my own, this album really is a tribute not only to Medwyn's vision and remarkable musical abilities but also to the spirit of familly that MG Music stands for. The combined talent's of Medwyn, Lisa, Stephen, Karen and of course myself...lol, have come together guided by Mr Goodalls concept and gentle suggestion to create something that heralds the start of a new era in New Age music.
If your wondering what to expect take the more subtle melodies of Riverdance, the majesty of Enya's "The Celts", a healthy dose of Bazantine influence and mix together then leave in the oven for 20 mins on Goodall gas mark 5.
Once you have devoured this CD you will be hungry for not only second helpings but eager to sink your teeth into the next in the series......

What was interesting for me during the music was that you could hear how easy it would have
been for Medwyn to bring in the crashing drums making it another installment in the "Clan" genre, but very cleverly, Medwyn has restrained himself from doing that. This is just one of the many key things that have made this album an absolute gem. He resists what would be so easy and instead works tremendously hard to keep the album feminine and beautiful in nature.
Only twice my life have I found myself crying my eyes out when listening to a piece of music. The first time was "One Man's Dream" by Yanni the second was listening to track 3 "The Crystal Shard". I was quite happily driving my car listening to the album when this track came on and halfway through I was in tears. This is an absolutely beautiful and heart touching
track. The effected piano, haunting cello solo, and then the two combined just work a magic that is so emotional that words can't describe it. This is, in my humble opinion, one of Med's most beautiful pieces of music that he has ever written. It’s pure magic and is from my point of view the album's pinnacle.
"The Sorcerer's Daughter (Aria)" opens with a beautiful vocal from Karen Kay and then there is this wonderful moment when I perform my guest solo LOL for trying ! Seriously though, you have to remember that I have been a fan of Medwyn's music for something like 10 years so to go from being just a fan to having the opportunity of actually guest performing on one of his albums is a real honour and privelage for me as a musician. You have no idea how nervous I was in Medwyn's studio but he was absolutely brilliant and really put me at my ease. He basically gave me free reign to compose a piano solo. Along with tracks 1 and 3 this is another
brilliant track, and not just because I am on it, but because musically it sits very firmly on its own merits.
"House of Elders" almost has an enya musical style feel to it which I really liked and again I loved the string melodies. Everything coming together nicely again.
“The Bloodline" was another much slower and piano based track with just the minutest hint of a
drum. This is again another magical track that sits so perfectly on this
album.
The sleeve notes contain the extremely detailed story running through the album which makes for really wonderful reading and gives you a feel for what Medwyn is hoping to achieve not only
for this CD but the others that will follow in the series. The artwork is stunning, the music is brilliant, the story is magical and the CD is one you will want to play again and again. Medwyn must be feeling extremely proud of this as it heralds his return to recording after a long
break and I for one can not wait for the next installment. Finally, a big thank you again to Medwyn for allowing me the opportunity to guest on this brilliant album and to his wife Wendy (and not just for the chocoloate brownies !), who is a real rock and is so supportive of him.
You are no longer an unsung hero Wendy, you are a real asset to Medwyn and
his music.
